Mugging victim struck with hurl

A WOMAN was struck on the head with a hurl during a mugging in Rosslare Strand.

The attack took place last Thursday night as the woman was walking home at Walsheslough.

She left her workplace at about 9.30 p.m. and was walking along the road when a male approached and attempted to steal her handbag.

The woman who is in her mid-30's refused to let the handbag go and a struggle ensued, according to a Garda spokesman.

The man then struck her on the side of the head and arm with a hurl, knocking her to the ground.

As the woman lay injured on the ground, he grabbed the bag and ran.

The man is believed to be Irish, about 5ft 7 in, of slim build and was wearing a dark hoodie.
