Mum in court for no car insurance
A YOUNG Barntown mother had her motoring case adjourned for one year at last Tuesday's sitting of New Ross District Court in the hope that she does not come to the attention of the Gardai in the interim.
Anne McDonnell from Rosetown, Barntown, was before the court charged with failing to produce an insurance certificate and with having no insurance on March 1, 2010 at Carrowreagh, Taghmon.
Defence solicitor Catriona Walsh explained that around the time her client was stopped she just had a baby and was also trying to complete a Masters.
'She had insurance always and it expired on February 2, 2010. Prior to that she had always been insured,' said Ms. Walsh, adding that her client ' immediately' went out to source insurance.
' This is a once off and she is not someone you will see before the court again. Her car is essential to her,' said Ms. Walsh, adding that her 30-year-old client has met the case fairly. The case was adjourned until September 13, 2011.
