National Concert Hall debut for Tony
ONE of Wexford's finest performers, Tony Carty, is preparing to make his debut at the National Concert Hall next week.
No stranger to Wexford audiences, Tony will now play the male lead, Sky Masterson, in the Rathgar and Rathmines Musical Society's production of 'Guys and Dolls'.
'I play the guy Marlon Brando played in the original movie', joked Tony.
Reassuringly, Tony will continue to perform as part of the Wexford Light Opera Society.
A break in his schedule of Wexford events gave him scope to take up this latest role after being head hunted by Director Noel Mcdonagh.
'Noel has directed shows in Wexford and knew I wasn't up to anything at the moment so that's how it came about', said Tony.
Tony (pictured) has been travelling up and down to Dublin at night to take part in rehearsals for the show.
Two songs which he is particularly excited about performing are 'Luck be a lady tonight' and 'I've never been in love before'. Performing with the National Concert Hall is, according to Tony, the highlight of this production. 'The orchestra are actually on stage with us during the show, for me that is the real draw', Tony said.
Tony's wife Paula Malone Carty and their four children will travel up to watch the show next week.
