A new series of promotional brochures is in the pipeline in a bid to market County Wexford nationally and internationally.

CEO of Wexford County Council Tom Enright said 'the economic development section has produced the draft of the first of a series of promotional investment brochures to be developed for the improved marketing of Wexford as an investment location for foreign, direct and indigenous development.

'This eight page brochure will focus on promoting Wexford as a centre for investment in the Life Sciences section and will be circulated to members when finalised.'

Mr Enright also said that is expected that 'the brand name for the new South and East coast marketing proposition will be made by Minister Paschal Donohoe in January 2015.

'This is the culmination of work throughout 2014 with tourism industry representatives, marketing experts and consumers to develop a brand that will have international appeal, attracting more overseas visitors to the South and East coast of Ireland. Wexford has actively participated in workshops and information sessions held to date.'

Cllr Kathleen Codd-Nolan said it was 'hugely important to market the Vinegar Hill battlefield' in any promotional material.

The members also spoke of the need to focus on 1916 and the role that Wexford played in this. Maritime history and the 1798 battle were also mentioned.

Cllr Michael Sheehan also wants a face to face meeting with a number of organisations to see what can be done to promote Wexford.
