New jobs boost as two stores to open
'€URO 50' SHOPS SET FOR WEXFORD
A DISCOUNT RETAILER is to open two stores in Co. Wexford in the coming months, resulting in the creation of a claimed 60 jobs.
'€uro 50' Stores will open in Gorey and Wexford, at locations which are still being finalised. The Gorey store will open before Christmas, while the Wexford shop will open early in the new year.
The discount chain opened its first store in Dublin last week, and immediately announced it would open a further seven stores in the south east in the next 12 months, resulting in the creation of 210 jobs. As well as the two Co. Wexford outlets, there will also be new stores in Waterford, Clonmel, Dungarvan, Carlow and Kilkenny.
The chain is part of the 99p Stores Group, which has 150 branches in its portfolio. The expansion plans in Ireland are being backed by Barclays Corporate, which is extending to the retailer, banking facilities of over £20 million stg.
The company said it is committed to using Irish suppliers throughout its expansion programme, and hopes to provide new opportunities for Irish suppliers through its existing UK store network.
The '€uro 50 Stores' see items priced at €1.50 or less. The new stores will see departments from babywear to biscuits; cosmetics to chilled products; minerals, sweets and crisps; hot drinks to DIY; food to fashion; greeting cards to gifts; pet-care to party-wear and stationery. The stores will also stock hundreds of themed products like Halloween and Christmas lines. More than 70 per cent of products will be well known leading household brands such as Colgate, Disney, Johnson's, Nivea, Palmolive, Pringles and Radox.
