No room at the inns for our homeless
WITH emergency homeless accommodations full in Wexford, the council needs to look at alternatives for people.
This is the view of Cllr Davy Hynes, who brought a motion to this effect to the meeting. Cllr Hynes said people are ending up homeless through no fault of their own because Ozanam House, Wexford Women's Refuge and the Foggy Few are all full, all the time. 'We need more emergency accommodation. The situation isn't surprising to anyone. Families are being put up to Courtown which causes huge disruption for families who have children in schools (in Wexford). This emergency situation is going to continue on for several years.'
Cllr Deirdre Wadding seconded his motion, while Cllr Lisa McDonald called for an emergency meeting on housing to take place as a matter of urgency.
