No show defendant in Guildford prison
A defendant who is currently in Guildford prison in the UK had a bench warrant issued for his arrest when he failed to appear before Judge Barry Hickson at Wexford Circuit Criminal Court.
Daniel Carty, of 121 Cushlawn Park, Tallaght, Dublin, was due before the court on a charge of possession of a motor vehicle knowing that the property was stolen or being reckless as to whether it was stolen at Clonroche on November 15, 2011.
When the case was called, Defence Counsel Liam Stafford said the defendant was not present in court. He said he would make contact with the solicitor to get more up-to-date information..
Later in the afternoon, Mr. Stafford informed the court that his solicitor had been in contact with a sister of the defendant who had informed him that he was in Guildford prison but would be available on October 22 next.
Judge Hickson said he would adjourn the matter to October 22 for hearing.
