No sign of man who had €23,000

A MAN who was relieved of €23,000 at Rosslare Europort by customs and excise officers in June did not turn up at Enniscorthy District Court last week to deal with an application by customs officer Peadar Ó Foghludha. Mr Ó Foghludha explained that the money was confiscated at Rosslare Harbour from Artan Xheza, who had an address at 11 Cherrywood Drive in Clondalkin. The court was informed that Xheza had not been in touch with customs and excise or with the solicitor in the case.

Ó Foghludha felt that there were reasonable grounds for suspicion surrounding the circumstances in which the money was found. Judge Donnchadh Ó Buachalla granted him an extension of the time allowed in which the cash may be retained until March 7.
