Sadness at passing of Catherine
RESIDENTS OF the town of Wexford was shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Catherine Dobbyn (nee Kearney) on Saturday in France after a short illness.
Catherine, who was raised in the family home in Selskar Street by parents Peg and Pat Kearney had moved to France seven years ago with her husband Dermot, who is originally from Portarlington. The pair had been made redundant from their jobs in Cork and they set about making a new life for themselves in South France.
Catherine had been diagnosed with pancreatitis some time ago, however, the decline in her health was extremely sudden and it came as a great shock to her family to learn that Catherine had passed away peacefully in a French hospital.
Catherine was the sixth child of eight that Pat (who passed away in 1999) and Peg raised together. She is survived by mother Peg, sisters Anne, Marie, Ger, Paddy, Charlie (currently living in Boston), Siobhan and Seamus. Catherine's body will make its final journey home from France and is due to return to Wexford on Thursday. May she rest in peace.
