'LOOK, Stop and Listen' was the mantra of the children at the Huggie Bears creche at the FAB centre in Coolcotts last Friday as they brushed up on their road safety.

The children, both toddlers and those of playschool age, were introduced to elements of road safety as part of national 'Beep Beep Day', which aimed to bring road safety to the youngest members of our communities.

Kay Stafford, Childcare Co-ordinator at Huggie Bears, said that the children there had already completed a three-week road safety course last September and were happy to display their skills for their visitors - Garda Alan Golden and traffic controller Patsy Farrell - last Friday.

The younger kids sang a song, while the playschool children staged a road safety play, complete with ' lollipop man', where they showed off what they have learned in recent weeks. Garda Golden and Mr Farrell then talked to the children about road safety and gave them some advice on how to stay safe when close to traffic outside.

The children, wearing their high vis vests supplied by the Road Safety Authority, also got to take a trip outside their road safety decorated resource room to see Garda Golden's patrol car and even witness the siren in action!
