Paint grant

WEXFORD traders will be able to apply to the Borough Council next year for a grant to help them paint their premises.

For the first time, the council has introduced a grant scheme, with an opening fund in the coming year of €20,000, to encourage business owners in the town to improve the presentation of commercial buildings.

The initiative, which is aimed particularly at upper floors of shops and business premises in the centre of town, is designed to help Wexford's performance in the Tidy Towns competition.

Money has also been set aside in next year's budget to enable the council employ the services of a horticulturist to advise the Tidy Towns committee and the parks and open spaces team on projects.
