Perfect time to get active

IT SEEMS like the whole world has gone mad watching sport. Well in Rosslare we say to hell with that we want to participate, we want to play tag rugby, tennis, golf and even take a go at a triathlon. And guess what? You can!! The Links festival in Rosslare 4-7 July is your opportunity to get off the couch, drop the remote and have a go.

Tag Rugby competition runs for three nights, Wednesday the 4th of July is for business to business matches Thursday for community groups and Friday the 7th of July is for community and family event. Noel Ferguson of Leinster Rugby and Fran Ronan of Sports active will be on hand to ensure that everyone has a great time, they will be using the modified IRFU rules for the sport. A BBQ is also planned for the evenings and the events will run from 6pm to around 7.30 each evening. All details are available on www.wexford.ie/sportsactive

Wimbledon will be upon us shortly but you can have your own little tennis affair by playing in the links tournament. Under the direction of Tiarnan Rossiter this event is for adults(over 16 years of age) and will comprise of a doubles singles and mixed competition. Contact Tiarnan on 053 9132202 to enter.

The Links is not just about sport however. Oh no it's so much more! Singing pubs, Art and photography exhibitions and a concert with Eleanor McEvoy are just a few of the other attractions on offer.

Tickets for Eleanor McEvoy concert are selling like hot cakes so reserve yours by calling 9132202. It will be a fantastic social event with a pre event wine garden and out door entertainment.

Saturday the 7th will be a special day with the Olympic distance triathlon kicking off at around 10am. The water sports garden will be the venue for water zorbing bouncy castles, dancing and music and lots lots more.So come along enjoy the spectacle and have a great days entertainment
