SIPTU Members at Ferns Diocesan Youth Service will hold a rally in the Bullring Wexford this Saturday, July 11, between 2 and 4 p.m.

The public will be asked to sign a petition of support for these workers and local representatives, family, friends and members of the public are being eencouraged to pop down to show solidarity with the workers.

The rally is to highlight the FDYS' claimed continued refusal to engage with the employees' trade union and unilateral removal of their sick pay scheme.

Further action will be taken on Wednesday, July 15, where pickets will once again be placed at the FDYS, on Francis Street in Wexford.

Previously Gerry Flanagan, branch organiser for SIPTU, said 'The problem is that there has been a long period of time during which staff have tried to get their employers to recognise SIPTU to represent their interests on a number of issues, the latest of these a unilateral change in sick-leave entitlement'.
