Piece of aircraft found

A SEARCH operation got underway last weekend after part of an aircraft was found washed up on Cullenstown Beach on Saturday.

The Irish Aviation Authority was alerted on Saturday that part of a Microlight aircraft was found washed up on the beach.

Search and Rescue and the Coastguard were subsequently notified and began searching the area, however nothing further was found.

According to a spokesman for the Irish Aviation Authority, there is no evidence that there was a crash and it is assumed that the piece of the craft could have been floating around in the waters for some time before it was washed up.
