Plumbers must pay out €5,700
A MARRIED COUPLE have received a decree for over €5,700 against a Wexford company who they felt carried out poor plumbing work on their home.
Ian and Aine MacDonald, of Rathduff Lodge, Rathduff, Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow, brought a claim against Flynn Mechanical Services Ltd, of Monawillig Upper, Oulart.
Flynn Mechanical Services were not represented in court, but Aine MacDonald and her solicitor were there so the case proceeded before Judge Donnchadh O Buachalla.
Ms MacDonald told the court that the Oulart-based company was engaged to carry out the plumbing work on their new home, which was completed in December 2004, but problems later arose.
Ms MacDonald said she was in contact with the company throughout 2005, but no-one came out to try fix things.
She said two employees from Flynn Mechanical Services did arrive out in January 2006, but couldn't fix their showers and in fact only only made things worse.
Ms MacDonald said the two men out at that time were on the phone to Enda Flynn, who said he would be out there personally within seven days, but he never turned up.
She said that in mid-2006 their water tank burst leading to flood damage. They engaged another plumber to fix the problems and their solicitor wrote to Flynn Mechanical Services.
Judge O Buachalla granted the couple a decree in the amount of €5,781.37, which was the estimates for the repair work, all of which has not been carried out yet. Costs were also awarded.
