Practice makes perfect for Coast Guard Rescue team
CURRACLOE Coast Guard continued their training recently with an exercise involving the Waterfordbased rescue helicopter.
The Curralcoe unit worked on the speedy preparation of a landing zone for the helicopter, always crucial in rescue situations.
They used the local soccer pitch for the exercise ensuring that the landing area was free of any debris or objects, such as sticks or stones, that could potentially get swept up as the helicopter lands.
The 15 members of the Curracloe Coast Guard were also given an insight into the inner workings of the Sikorsky helicopter itself by its winch operator.
