Pregnant woman taken to hospital after Wexford town pothole trip
A PREGNANT woman who tripped in a pothole in Wexford town centre was taken to Wexford General Hospital for a check up following her fall last Tuesday.
The woman, who is 33 weeks pregnant, said she was very relieved to be given the all-clear at the hospital after the nasty scare.
'It could have been much worse,' she said of the accident in Church Lane at the bottom of Rowe Street.
Rowe Street and its precints John's Gate Street have both been in the spotlight recently over the state of the pavements and this accident is the latest in a series of falls reported by pedestrians.
'I will be contacting the council, not to sue them, but to tell them that it's ridiculous that this happened.
'It (pothole) doesn't look massive, but it tripped me up, I just didn't see it,' said the woman, who is nursing a cut and bruised knee.
The woman said she wanted to thank all those who came to her aid following the fall and brought her a chair while she regained her equilibrium.
'The man from the health food shop and the fruit shop and the women from Sharkeys and Sam McCauleys were really fantastic,' said the woman.
