Pres Wexford win youth drama prize

The County Wexford Youth Drama competition ran last week as a fringe event to the All Ireland Confined Drama festival in Kilmuckridge.

The winners of the best play were 'Our Day Out' by the Presentation Secondary School, Wexford followed by 'Johnny Baluba' by Colaiste An Atha, Kilmuckridge, and 'Big Maggie' by Colaiste Abbain, Adamstown.

The best actor went to Shane Murphy in 'Johnny Bulula' while Kate Devereux won the best actress in 'Our Day Out'.

Best supporting actor was awarded to Kyle Butler in 'Big Maggie' while Leah O'Brien took the best supporting actress award for her role in 'Sleepover Secrets' from Colaiste Bride.

The adjudicator's awards went to Ciara Kavanagh for her music in 'Our Day Out', to Gorey Community School for 'Girls Like that' for taking on such a hard hitting topic, to Kilmuuckridge and to Ashling Whelan. The best moment in theatre award went to the unicorn sequence in 'Sleepover sequence'.
