Probation for drug possession
A YOUNG Kilmore man found in possession of cannabis outside McDonald's restaurant in Drinagh has been given the benefit of the probation act.
David Doyle, Whitehill, Kilmore, was found to have cannabis resin worth €20 hidden in a compartment in the front of his car when it was searched by Gardaí on October 6, 2009. It was for his own use.
Ed King, for Doyle, said the 19-yearold left school four years ago and works with his father in the building trade.
The defendant, who has no previous convictions, was given the benefit of the probation act on his undertaking to make a €250 donation to the local branch of the St Vincent de Paul.
