Pub is ordered to pay over €6,500 in outstanding rates
OUTSTANDING rates on a pub prompted Wexford County Council to bring legal proceedings against Seán Whelan and Denis Kelly of Blackwater. Enniscorthy District Court was informed last week by revenue collector Eric Lawlor that €6,538 remained due in rates from the public house for the year 2010.
He said the pub was still open for business and that the men named in the proceedings had made an offer of €1,000 but the case went to court after the promised money failed to come through. The council was granted a warrant for the rates, while Whelan and Kelly were ordered in addition to pay €160 in costs.
