Raid on Furlong's is latest in series on Wexford butchers
Thieves escaped with a substantial amount of money after breaking into Furlong's Butchers at Whitemill on Wednesday night March 18, one of a series of raids on butchers' premises over the past week.
The raid on Furlongs followed one on another Wexford butchers, Richie Doyle's in South Main Street, the previous week. On Friday, a butcher's premises was broken into in New Ross and on Saturday, a butcher's shop in Dungarvan was raided. It's unclear what was taken in those incidents.
Gardai said the thieves got into Furlongs after deactivating CCTV cameras at the rear. An office was entered and a safe was emptied of a substantial amount of cash.
In a separate incident in Wexford on Sunday night (March 22) a house in Bayview Drive was ransacked after being broken into while the homeowners were out for a couple of hours.
