The upcoming re-launch of the National 1798 Rebellion Centre in Enniscorthy and the Rebellion Weekend on May 25 and 26 will see the Centre is throwing open its doors for a special weekend ticket price of €3 per person.

Inside the newly-renovated centre visitors can enjoy a brand new interactive audiovisual tour, a series of new characters telling the tale of one of the bloodiest battles in Ireland's history and uncannily lifelike full-sized models in full dress of the period.

During the Rebellion weekend, there will also be a full programme of free activities and entertainment on the grounds of the 1798 Centre for all the family.

Young visitors are invited to the centre to enjoy training up with expert Pikemen. By the end of the weekend a strong force of Pikemen will have learned the skills of battle of the 1700's and the resident blacksmith will also have shown them how to keep their pike in tip top condition and ready for battle. Pikemen training workshops will take place throughout the weekend for primary school age children. Each training session will last 45 minutes with up to 50 children taking part at each workshop. Pre-booking at (053) 9237596 is advisable for these workshops.
