Reward offered after coffee shop burglary
MICHAEL HAYES, owner of O'brien's Sandwich Bar in Redmond Square, is offering a cash reward for anyone who can offer any information on a burglary that took place on his premises in the early hours of Monday morning.
The shop was completely ransacked during the burglary and the thieves made off with various electrical appliances, about €1,200 in cash from the safe and a cigarette machine that had just been filled and contained nearly €5,000 worth of cigarettes.
They also attempted to pull a coffee machine off the wall and left the water running, flooding the premises. The thieves are believed to have entered at the front of the shop on the Redmond Square side between midnight and 6 a.m. and it is assumed that there must have been a number of people involved to facilitate lifting a heavy cigarette machine as well as a van or truck to transport the stolen goods from the scene.
Mr Hayes is appealing for anyone who may have seen anything, suspicious, particularly taxi drivers who may have been parked at the nearby taxi rank, to get in contact either with himself on 087 8251602, or with Wexford Garda Station.
