Rissole makes 'Top 10' on winning heritage list
THE HUMBLE Wexford Rissole was the most talked about item on a list of the Top 10 'History and Heritage' items associated with Wexford Town.
Wexford County Council's planning section was announced as the winner of the national online award for best submission on 'My Heritage', in which the rissole featured loomed large.
The competition is run by the Heritage Council, and the award was presented by Mayor of Wexford, Cllr. George Lawlor to Carmel Doolan and Emer Doyle (pictured, and Helen McDonnell in absentia) Jobbridge interns, who prepared the project from start to finish during their internship with Wexford County Council.
The project (which was displayed in the window of Dunnes Stores on the Main Street during the summer) provides fascinating facts about 10 History and Heritage items associated with Wexford Town. The items selected were: The Wexford Cot, Wexford Iron Manufacturers, The Wexford Rissole, The Wexford Window, Wexford Opera Festival, The Wexford Pike, Hiberno-Norse House, Wexford Park Sandstone, Wexford Borough Maces and Robes and Wexford Remembers World War One. The Wexford Rissole was the most talked about item on the list.
