Road may collapse due to coastal erosion
A public road may collapse near Blackwater unless coastal protection works are carried out, according to Fine Gael Cllr Oliver Walsh.
Cllr Walsh, speaking at last week's Wexford County Council meeting, said the erosion is particularly bad north of where a house fell into the sea.
'It's quite close to the public road,' he said.
The eroison at Ballyconniger and along the Blackwater coast was highlighted.
'We need funding to improve this or over the next year the road will fall into the sea.'
Director of Services for Housing, Environment and Emergency Services John Carley said George Colfer of the council's coastal engineer team will investigate the matter, adding that the council is finalising its funding application for funding from the Department of Environment for coastal works.
