Roadside litter on the increase
An increase in roadside litter is being blamed on the ending of the Gateway employment scheme in Wexford.
Cllr. George Lawlor told a Council meeting that the amount of litter on roadsides appeared to be 'tremendous'.
'We used to have someone going along the sides of the roads picking up litter. Is there someone who can do that job', he asked.
Cllr. Lawlor said he was driving to Larkin's Cross and the amount of litter on the roadside was terrible.
Director of Services Tony Larkin said he did not see how the Council could put the same effort into litter removal without the Gateway Scheme.
