Runner-up of the All Ireland Credit Union Art competition, Darragh Moran, received a cash prize from broadcasting legend, Marty Whelan, at the awards ceremony in Croke Park last week.

Darragh, from Our Lady of Fatima School, was awarded runner-up in the 11 to 13 years category.

Wexford Credit Union received over 200 entries, with only 25 going to the regional finals. Darragh, and five others, were then picked to go forward for the national final in Croke Park.

The art competition, run by the Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU), received 30,000 entries through 300 credit unions.

The theme, 'Dream are Made of This', was aimed at giving all participants a chance to express their creativity and imagination.

'The Irish League of Credit Unions will continue to support and nurture the artistic development of young and old in our local communities,' said ILCU President, Brian McCrory.

Mr McCrory said he was impressed by the quality of the artwork on display and thought it was very compelling to see how uniquely each of the artists interpreted the theme.
