Search continues for missing man
TRAGEDY FEARED IN CULLENSTOWN
A SEARCH was still continuing yesterday (Tuesday) for a missing man, whose car was located at Cullenstown Beach last weekend.
The man, who is aged in his fifties and from Dublin, was reported missing to the Irishtown Garda Station in Dublin at 3 p.m. on Saturday and his car was subsequently located at Cullenstown Beach on Sunday night.
Passers-by spotted the car and Gardai together with the Coastguard launched a search operation around 9 p.m.
The Waterford Coastguard helicopter and two teams from the Kilmore Quay Coastguard were both dispatched to search the area at around 9.05 p.m.
Just before 10 p.m. Gardai advised the Coastguard that both Bannow Bay and Kilmore Quay were searched, however no trace of the man was found.
The helicopter returned to the Cullenstown area, where the search is concentrated, at first light on Monday morning, while the local Coastguard unit continued to walk the beach as part of the search operation.
According to Gardai, the missing man, though a resident of Dublin, had a house in the Cullenstown area.
