Senior citizens enjoyed the annual party that Oylegate Youth Club members organised for them at the Community Centre.

A four course dinner was provided to the 80 who attended, followed by entertainment from local musicians who got together on the night.

'Some of the party got up to dance and some even joined in with the musicians and sang us a song. It was a brilliant night and it was nice to see the young people mix with the older generation,' said organiser Gretta Quigley.

Youth club members have a raffle during the year to raise funds for the night, which is often enough, but people donate money, food or drink to help contribute.

'We played a few games, like "Toss the Coin", with them and winners received gift prizes. We have been doing this since 2000 and every year it gets better and better,' said Gretta.

Una Reck, a leader from the Youth Club, thanked all the leaders and the ten members who helped out on the night that made the party a success.
