Sex abuse support service to mark 20th anniversary

By David Tucker

wEXFORD Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Service is launching its 20th anniversary celebrations with a candlelight vigil at the Bullring in Wexford town at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1. Mayor Cllr Ger Carthy will be in attendance.

The Wexford Rape & Sexual Support Service was established in 1995 to provide counselling support to those in Co. Wexford who experienced childhood sexual abuse, rape or any form of sexual violence in their lives. The Service has provided a valuable free confidential counselling environment for survivors who have been affected by the consequences of abuse. It has grown over the years due to an ever increasing demand for the service.

Anyone interested is invited to take part in the vigil to acknowledge all those who have been abused in their lives and recognise their courage in seeking help to heal from the trauma of sexual violence.
