Shane Carroll, from the Silver Fox, in Kilmore Quay, presented a cheque for €1,200 which will go towards the 'MRI Now' project fundraiser which is being promoted by Friends of Wexford Hospital

Shane cycled 180km around the Ring of Kerry in July, accompanied by Niall Reck, of Graphedia, the Treasurer of Friends of Wexford Hospital.

Ciaran Sheridan, Chairperson of Friends of Wexford General Hospital, said he was delighted to receive the fundraisers' support. 'The fact that people are taking this fundraiser so seriously is very much appreciated and we would encourage everybody to follow Shane's example and fundraise on our behalf.

'All the medical people agree, - diagnostics are the way forward, and getting an MRI scanner into Wexford Hospital is a must,' he said.

'We just need to keep up the great work for everyone in Co Wexford, because at some stage the hospital becomes very important to us all, either directly or indirectly. Having the best facilities possible must always be our aim.'
