Shot rang out following assault in Kilmuckridge

A MAN accused of assault and reckless discharge of a firearm indicated last week that he will be pleading guilty to the charges.

Jason Quigley of Church Road in Kilmuckridge attended Enniscorthy District Court, where he heard Garda Inspector Pat Cody tell Judge Donnchadh Ó Buachalla that the DPP wished the case referred to the Wexford Circuit Court.

34-year-old Quigley stood accused of assaulting Martin Quigley causing him harm at Ballygarron on December 14 last year and of recklessly discharging a firearm in Ballygarron on the same date. The defendant was represented by solicitor John O'Leary who passed on his client's offer of a signed guilty plea.

The judge pointed out that a book of evidence will have to be prepared and given to the defendant before the case is referred to the Circuit Court. Prosecuting Garda Brian Phillips had no objection to the granting of bail as further consideration of the matter was put back to February 2.
