Signs at scene of tragedy
THE SCENE of a recent drowning tragedy in Barntown is extensively marked with warning signs, county manager Eddie Breen assured councillors at last week's meeting.
He was responding to a query from Cllr. Declan MacPartlin who wanted similar signs placed on the bank of the Slaney in Clohamon where a similar tragedy occurred several years ago.
The manager preferred not to comment in any detail on the circumstances at the Forth Mountain quarry which claimed the life of teenager Allen Murphy last month, explaining that an investigation is underway into the death.
