Skilful Wexford pair home with medals

TWO Co Wexford men have represented their country with distinction on the world stage.

Vinnie Sullivan from Crossabeg and Paul Furlong from Glenbrien both secured medals of excellence at the recent World Skills Games in London.

Both Vinnie and Paul were members of the 11-strong Irish team of apprentices pitting their skills against the best of their counterparts from around the world in a highly competitive arena.

However, both Model County men showed they are a match for anyone with their accomplished performances.

Vinnie, specialising in refrigeration and air conditioning, and Paul in automobile technology, had been taking part in intensive training for a number of weeks in preparation for the four days of competition.

Vinnie, who has a year to run on his apprenticeship, works with Hennessy Refrigeration in Enniscorthy, while Paul, who is just completing his apprenticeship, works with mechanic Michael Furlong on the Newtown Road in Wexford.
