Skittles roll into town

AGE-OLD GAME NOW THRIVING IN TAGHMON-CAMROSS

CONOR CULLEN

TAGHMON-CAMROSS is well on its way to becoming the home of skittles!

A traditional game with its roots embedded deep in Irish history, skittles continues to flourish in small pockets of Co Wexford and, thanks to the Community Games, TaghmonCamross is now one of those areas.

The club's under-12 team won the gold in skittles at the Community Games All-ireland Finals last year and this year they entered teams at under-12, under-14 and under-16, all of which won bronze medals at national level.

To ensure the games continues to flourish the local branch of the Community Games have presented sets of skittles, sponsored by Sports Active Wexford, to Caroreigh NS and Taghmon NS, where they have skittles targets painted for the children to practice.

To further ensure that all youngsters in the area get a go a set was also presented to the Teach Spraoi community childcare centre, where a skittles target will soon be put down.
