Sold drugs after being laid off
A YOUNG MAN who was said to have dealt drugs in a small way for a couple of weeks after being laid off from his job in a factory, had his case adjourned by Judge Donnchadh O Buachalla at Wexford District Court.
Garry Walsh, 35 Antelope Road, Maudlintown pleaded guilty to being in possession of cannabis at his address on April 13, 2010, for the purpose of sale. He had no previous convictions.
Superintendent Kevin Gralton said the value of the cannabis was €300.
Eva Lalor, solicitor said her client is 23 years old and the father of one child with another baby on the way. He was working in a factory and was laid off. He was dealing drugs in a small way for a couple of weeks.
She said he co-operated fully with the gardai. He would have been using cannabis himself at the time but is not anymore. He attended his doctor and is getting some treatment for drug use, she added.
Judge O Buachalla remanded him on bail to September 19 next for drug analysis under the direction of a Probation Officer.
