Stephen was hoping for better luck with the Euros at races

REPUBLIC of Ireland and Wolves star Stephen Hunt was hoping to find some of the luck that escaped the Irish team at Euro 2012, when he appeared at Wexford Races during the week.

Stephen, who has a house in Rosslare, was not long home from the Euros when he decided to take his mind off of Ireland's disastrous form by studying the form of some of the horses taking to the track at the races.

Stephen will be extremely disappointed at how Ireland fared in Euro 2012, especially considering the fact that manager Giovanni Trapattoni favoured bringing on strikers like Simon Cox in the role of winger rather than giving the likes of Hunt and Sunderland starlet James McClean a chance to play their part in the tournament.

Stephen will enjoy the couple of weeks break from football before meeting up with the rest of the Wolves squad for pre-season training in a season which will be of vital importance to them as they hope to make it back to the Premier League at the first time of asking since being relegated to the Championship at the end of last season.
