'Super' dancers wow Disneyland
WEXFORD TEENS BAG TWO TROPHIES
A TALENTED GROUP of young Wexford dancers are on a high after performing on stage in Disneyland, Paris.
Supernova, from the Sheila Grace Dance Company, took part in an international competition in the famous theme park.
The dancers brought home two trophies after coming first in one category and third in another, winning out against competition from all over Europe.
Their stunning performances earned the Wexford teenagers the privilege of appearing on the main stage in Disneyland.
' It was an amazing experience for them,' said Kelly-Jane Power, choreographer and principal at the dance company.
The crew members who travelled to Paris a fortnight ago were Becky Sheil (12), Niamh Doyle (13), Amy Geary (13), Laura Smith (13), Leah O' Toole (15), Joelle White (16), Alan Kitrell (17), Ciara O' Neill (17), Becky Furlong (17), Doireann O' Brien (17), Ciara Byrne (18) and Becky Mullen (22).
Off the stage, Niamh, Amy, Leah, Joelle and Doireann are Presentation secondary school students while Ciara O' Neill and Laura are in the Loreto.
Alan and Becky Furlong attend Bridgetown Vocational College while Becky Sheil is in Kilmore national school.
Ciara Byrne is a first year student of Law in WIT and Becky Mullen recently started her dance teacher training with the Sheila Grace Dance Company.
The group were accompanied by Kelly Jane; dance teacher Tara O' Brien, and parents Ann Geary, Yvonne Smith and Monica Sheil.
The exciting invitation came last April when Supernova competed at the International Federation of Dance and Performing Arts Championships in Paris.
While there, the young dancers got a chance to audition for the right to perform on Disneyland's own stage and were chosen from hundreds of entries.
The teenagers and their families organised fundraising events to pay for the trip of a lifetime.
They would like to thank all their sponsors and everyone who supported them.
