Suspended sentence after stealing from 'Woodies'

A WEXFORD town woman who had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of theft was given a suspended two-month prison sentence when she came before Judge Patrick Clyne at Weford District Court.

Elizabeth Connors, of 55 The Grove, Clonard, had pleaded guilty at a previous court to theft from Woodies, Clonard Retail Park, on December 5, 2012.

Defence solicitor Collette Culleton said the matter had been adjourned for a probation and welfare report.

The court was told by Supt. Pat Carolan that the defendant had failed to co-operate with the services.

'If she had done this previously and said she would not co-operate I would not be wasting my time. Who the hell does she think I am,' said Judge Clyne. The Judge said he would impose a two-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, on the defendant entering a bond of €100 for two years.
