The message in bottle that could save a life
A MESSAGE in a bottle could save your life or the life of an elderly member of your family, that is according to one voluntary group.
The Kilmore Steering Committee for the Older Person or SCOPE as they are also known, has in conjunction with the Wexford Lion's Club have set about distributing small plastic bottles to the elderly.
The bottles contain a piece of paper which the person can record their medical history and contacts details for the person they would like to be contacted in case of an emergency.
The bottles come with a set of three stickers, one which should be placed in side of the front door and another one which should go inside of the back door. The third sticker goes on the fridge.
In the case that a member of the ambulance service attends the house in an emergency they will be directed to the fridge to find the information, explains Seamus O'Keefe of SCOPE.
To launch the initiative within the community an information session has been arranged for Wednesday, October 3, at 11a.m.
