An old style threshing yielded not only some fine sacks of grain but also more than €2,500 for a good cause. The Blackwater vintage committee staged the threshing in aid of Its Good 2 Talk counselling and support services in Wexford Town.

'A very special thanks to the people in Blackwater who donated so generously,' was the response of Its Good 2 Talk's Winnie Kehoe, who lives in the parish. The service in Iberius House on Commerical Quay in the town has five counselling room and acts as a base for more than 30 counsellors covering such areas as addictions, anxiety, anger management, relationship difficulties, bereavement, depression and suicide.

The service relies in the main on donations from clients, so the sum of €2,574 presented by the day out in Blackwater was a welcome boost. Anyone over the age of 12 who needs help is welcome to drop in or call Iberius House at (053)9126596.
