Things most certainly must have gotten dark in some of the houses on King Street last week, as it seemed like a great big truck was about to drive into their front rooms.

It's unclear whether the truck took a wrong turn when negotiating the town's one-way systems, but it made for a very tight squeeze as it tried to make its way off Bunker's Hill and onto King Street.

Traffic came to a brief standstill and, in order to get a swing at it, the truck driver was forced to mount the footpath, blocking it to pedestrians. While onlookers commented on the driver's skill, going backwards and forwards to within inches of the wall to get through, many expressed concerns that HGVs negotiating Wexford's streets would now become more common as a result of the works at the Crescent which have seen the road narrowed slightly. Engineers have reiterated that this is not the case, however, and that there will be ample clearance for vehicles of all kinds to pass each other.
