Tomhaggard scouts honoured for raising refugee funds

The annual scout investiture took place in Tomhaggard last week with special guests, County Commissioner Dano O'Leary, and Mayor Frank Staples on hand to add their congratulations especially to two youngsters who raised funds for Syrian refugees.

Young scouts Josh Quigley Power and Hayley Power received Chief Scout Certificates of Merit for their work in organising a fundraising camp Wamboree for the Syrian Refugee Crisis.

They raised €2,170 which was presented to Cllr Staples on behalf of Trocaire.

Anna Power and Peter Lyons received five-year service awards, while Mary Doyle received a 20-year service Award, The Group received SQS Quality Scouting Award.

The evening finished with festive singing and a party.
