Top talent at HOPE concert
TWO WEXFORD singers with impressive Europe wide credentials will be to the fore with their talents in aid of the HOPE cancer support service on Sunday on Sunday, July 22. Myles Doyle from Pearse Road in Enniscorthy and Elizabeth Whelan from Boolavogue top the bill at the concert in the Presentation Centre (8 p.m.).
Elizabeth Whelan moved on from secondary schooling at Coláiste Bríde to study in Dublin. She began her professional career as a soloist entertaining tourist at Bunratty Castle in County Clare. She has since become a great favourite with audiences not only in Ireland but also in Italy where she has been a pupil of tenor Ugo Bennelli.
Meanwhile, Myles Doyle, known as ' The People's Tenor', has a reputation that has spread to Italy, the UK, Germany and even to the United States. Closer to home, he had the honour of being one of the first performers on to the stage of the Presentation Centre in Nunnery Road earlier this year.
He returns with Ms. Whelan on Sunday, when pianist Yvonne Collier and violinist Emily Redmond provide accompaniment.
Tickets at €10 each are available from the HOPE charity shop in Mill Park Road of directly from the concert venue - (053) 9233000.
