Town water supply still working fine
MANY people are starting to experience water shortages as pipes freeze in the area. However, the town's water supply is still in good shape, says Wexford County Council's senior executive engineer Gerry Forde.
'In Wexford town we're doing quite well, there are no major problems to report yet,' said Mr Forde. The county council has had to ration the water supply in Gorey, Enniscorthy and Kilmuckridge over the past week.
While the town's water supply is fine for the moment, Mr Forde noted that ' lots of individual consumers have had problems because their service pipes are not deep enough'.
In these situations they must deal with the problem themselves, but Mr Forde said that if the weather becomes cold enough and the pipes become so bad that entire housing estates become affected then the council will provide water through stand pipes.
