Trainee pilot hit 164 km/h
A TRAINEE pilot caught travelling at over twice the speed limit in Taghmon escaped a conviction at Wexford District Court on Monday.
Noel Power, from Slade, Fethard-on-Sea, was charged with driving without reasonable consideration at Rochestown, Taghmon, on August 10, 2010.
Inspector Pat McDonald said the charge related to speeding, as Power was clocked travelling at 164 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
Judge Donnchadh O Buachalla heard that Power is a trainee pilot and a conviction could impact negatively on his career.
He found the facts proven, but said he would not impose a conviction if Power makes a donation of €400 to the Society of St Vincent de Paul.
