Treacherous driving conditions expected on Thursday morning
Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution on the roads on Thursday morning, January 29, as bitterly cold temperatures are expected to make driving conditions treacherous.
There is a yellow weather warning in place all over the country and Met Eireann said it will be windy and bitterly cold throughout the night with widespread showers.
Many of these showers will be wintery while some will be heavy and thundery.
While snow is largely expected to be confined to Ulster, Connacht and north Leinster showers over Wexford and the rest of south Leinster will be mainly rain and hail.
Met Eireann said with lows of -1 degrees there will be some dangerous driving conditions n the morning because of ice or snow.
Thursday itself will be bitterly cold with further hail, sleet and snow showers with harsh west to northwestly winds.
