'Twister' over Wexford!
FUNNEL CLOUD APPEARS OFF WEXFORD'S COASTLINE
DRINAGH RESIDENT Roz Moran and her husband Fintan were among a number of witnesses to a strange weather phenomenon while sitting in their back garden on Sunday.
The couple thought they were seeing things when a twister appeared on the skyline, looking out towards Kilmore.
'We were sitting there at about 11.45 a.m. when the clouds went really dark and looked like they were going to fall down on us,' said Roz.
'Then I saw this long funnel of cloud winding down just like the twisters you see on Storm Chasers on television.'
'It stayed like that for a few minutes and as we were watching, it just got sucked back up into the cloud,' said Roz.
Fintan captured the twister on his camera while joking to his 10-year old daughter April that if it came down, she could be like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.
He and Roz would like to know if anyone else saw the phenomenon.
'I'd love to find out if there was any other kind of strange weather activity around Ireland that day,' said Roz.
Shortly afterwards, torrential rain came down in Wexford town, sending shoppers fleeing for cover.
Heavy showers and tornadoes in June - a typical summer's day in Ireland then.
