Vandals target lifebhoys
LIFEBUOYS FROM Wexford Bridge are being washed up on shores around the Slaney estuary, to the disgust of Cllr. George Lawlor. The Labour man called on council officials to take advantage of an offer from a local security firm to keep an eye on the buoys in future.
Cllr. Lawlor passed on reports last week that six out of the eight lifebuoys on the bridge had been removed during a recent weekend, with many of them thrown into the river. He noted the offer by Crimewatch Security to put alarms on the essential equipment.
'This is an offer we should move on,' he said, complaining that the buoys had been tampered with regularly in recent weeks. He described those responsible as low life.
