Vietnamese trio face 'growhouse' charges
A VIETNAMESE interpreter was required in the District Court last week as two men and a woman accused of running a cannabis grow house in Glenbrien appeared before Judge Gerard Haughton.
No evidence was heard in the case of Giang La (45), Hong Le (47) and Ms. Wen Vu (46) - all of no fixed abode. The trio stood accused of drug cultivation at Ballinastraw on September 15.
Ms. Ven had already been allowed bail on the basis that she will reside in Dublin. In court on Wednesday, Judge Gerard Haughton was informed that Le had surrendered his passport and had €3,000 in cash to offer by way of bail.
On that basis the defendant was allowed his liberty and told to reside at an address at Corduff in Dublin.
However, solicitor Ed King had no bail application to make on behalf of the third accused, Giang La. All three defendants were told to return to court on November 1 in the hope that DPP instructions on how to proceed will be available on that date.
